PRP Hair Restoration

What is Platelet-Rich-Plasma (PRP)
Hair restoration in Grand Rapids using PRP starts with a blood draw (10mL-60mL). The tube of blood is then placed in a specialized centrifuge, spun at a high velocity which allows for concentrated platelets to be collected. These platelets contain growth factors that can be used for aesthetic procedures (facial rejuvenation, hair restoration) as well as for orthopedic conditions (tendonitis, arthritis).
Androgenetic Alopecia
PRP injections are simple, efficient, and can be regarded as a valuable alternative for the treatment of androgenetic alopecia.
Results showed that a significant increase in the rate of hair growth was observed between the 3rd and 6th months. Hair density followed a rising trend with a remarkable peak at 3 months. Patients with II-III grade of alopecia had better results compared to patients with more advanced alopecia.

How long does PRP for hair loss take to work?
PRP has been used as a treatment for male and female pattern hair loss. It is generally recommended that patients receive two to three treatments, usually about a month apart, to see the best results. It is common to have to get maintenance treatments every one or two years in order to maintain the results you get from the PRP hair loss treatment.
Benefits of PRP with hair transplant
PRP stimulates and supports hair growth after Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) in three main steps:
- Promoting vascularity to the hair root thereby increasing viability to the follicle before, during and after hair transplantation
- Promoting tissue repair and regeneration post-transplantation
- Stimulating dormant hair follicles and growing new hair
